Hi Andrew. How long have you been using Curology? I have been using Curology since, I want to say December, 2023…pretty long time, but I’m still using it now, so everything's working great.
How did you find out about Curology? I found out about Curology when I was doing my at home DIY skincare research back in high school, I think around junior year of high school when I was, I want to say 16, 17. I found out about it and I heard a lot of people were using it and it helped them a lot. But, I think back then I thought I could do everything by myself. I could find out how to do everything on my own, supplement the research that I was using and try out a bunch of different products. While it did work here and there, I eventually started to use Curology in 2023 just because I had a pretty bad breakout and I didn't know what to do about it. My current skincare regimen wasn't really working for some reason, even though it worked for the past year. I feel like in a time of panic I decided to try Curology, test it out, especially with the free trial and everything. What was that [experience] like? It was pretty easy. I'd say they [my provider] gave me tips and tricks, what I was supposed to do, what to expect. I was a little nervous at first because I never went to any sort of medical solution for my skincare and this was the first time I was talking to a provider through the website and everything. They put me on Custom Formula. Initially it was pretty hard, I would say, because I knew to expect a purging period, a time where things don't really look good, but it's your skin trying to get better at the same time. But I kept at it and then here we are now, so yeah. What were you experiencing before? I had pretty bad acne. I don't want to say I have acne scars…I had just a bunch of pimples. My skin gets very oily, so a bunch of sebaceous filaments and everything like that on my forehead, on my cheeks. Did you have a moment where you realized the effect that acne was having on your life? Yeah, actually I think it was two months before I started Curology. It really hit me. It was one day where I was going back to school from a trip back home and then I was driving back and then I looked in the mirror and I was like, that's not me. That's not the same person that I saw a few months ago when my skin was looking good. Later on around the afternoon, I took a picture of both sides, and I was like, this is crazy. There's an actual difference from what I used to look like and what I am now. I think that just made me feel really ashamed…I didn't notice it back then, but I probably put my head down a little bit more back in the day. Do you talk often with friends and family about your skin journey and Curology? One of my coworkers literally came up to me in a patient's room and was like, what do you do for your skin? This was during a night shift and I was like, I thought she was going to ask for help. I thought she was going to ask me if I could do something for her, but instead she just asked, what do you do for your skin?
What does your daily routine look like? Yeah, so believe it or not, my routine in terms of Curology just consists of these two products [Custom Formula and The Sunscreen]. I actually believe you don't need too much to make your skin look normal at least. For someone like me who's a guy, I don't really want to put too much work into my skin, so I just keep it pretty bare bones, pretty simple. What was the process of signing up for Curology like? It was really easy actually. I just filled out the questionnaire. I was a little nervous about which provider I was going to get, whether or not they were knowledgeable about the subject was one concern I had actually. But, they were very knowledgeable. I get responses back really quick. One time, actually in the middle of my Curology use, when I started to get better results, I moved to DC for an externship-internship type of thing. I was a little nervous about switching providers and even within the same state, you'll switch providers occasionally and I was concerned that they wouldn't grasp the entire picture, the entire history of conversations I've had with previous providers in the past. But, I was surprised that they still gave me very personal feedback, tailored to my needs even though I was in a different state at the time and then when I was moving back home to Virginia. What advice would you have for yourself two years ago based on your experience today? I would say never give up, always have hope and then just go for it. I think a lot of the hesitation I had with Curology was not trusting in the process. I know there's a process that helped a lot of people in the past. I knew that I could be one of those people who wouldn't have been a success story, but I gave it a shot and then here I am. I kind of just let loose and then I dropped whatever I was doing in the past and just kind of let someone who is a little bit more knowledgeable than me take over. I think sometimes a lot of us need that, where it's like we feel overburdened and a lot of pressure to do things on our own, especially young people like me where it's like we might not have a lot of money during school years. We might not have a lot of time. Our parents might think we're really independent and can do things on our own, but sometimes you just got to let go, let someone else take over for a little bit.
