Hi Scarlet. How long have you actually been using Curology? I’ve been using Curology since I think 2021, so about four to five years. How did you hear about Curology? I actually heard [about] it from my boyfriend. I was trying different products before because I was having breakouts, and he actually told me instead of trying this and that, X, Y, Z, try this. I think there was a promotion that Curology was offering for $5, it was the best $5 I've ever invested. Ever since then I have been using it and here we are five years later. What were you using before Curology? Over-the-counter products, all different brands and products. I would read the label for whatever helps with acne [and buy it] without realizing it is very generic. Not customized to my skin like Curology. That’s how I think I wasted a lot of money, time, and energy because I was trying X, Y, Z and it didn't work out. Ever since I started using Curology, that's when I started to see the real difference. Not right away, but eventually as I started using it, I could see it over time. Wow. And I’m sticking to it. That's the best part. It's being consistent. The results are consistent. You said ‘the real difference’. What is the real difference? I’ve tried products where I would see, okay, it's working immediately, but then…it starts drying my skin up or it's doing something else while I am trying to help one thing [acne]. But, I want to help everything for my skin. That's why Curology is the best, because of the [customized] formula. I think I also recently started using the Hydro+ moisturizer. I love this so much because of the moisture it brings, my skin is glowing without any filter. What was signing up for Curology and getting your custom formula like? My provider, she’s been so efficient, with timely responses…she has been super helpful. Every time I have a question like, okay, I think this is drying my skin out a little bit or I think the other formula was working better, she does her research and then she tells me, okay, I think this is the best.  I've added it to your subscription. And then I just order it again for my next time. The fact that I can message from my phone and get the job done without having to go [to the dermatology office] in person. I can message at one in the morning, and I do that. I'm just checking my emails before going to bed and then I'm like, okay, I think I had this question that I needed to ask to my provider, and then I just message her. It's not like I'm bothering her right away, but she sees it the next business day, and she gets back to me. It’s so efficient because without having to take the time or commute, I can just get the job done from home. I really like teledermatology. It's great.

How did you feel when you got your first box? It definitely felt great. I had lots of thoughts going on in my head. I was definitely excited. Excitement was the first one, but I was also hopeful that I hope this is the investment that I can stick with going forward. I'm so glad that it did because I have tried, like I said, I was trying different X, Y, Z products before that didn't make much of a difference as much as Curology did. I was really glad. Do you remember what a bad skin day felt like? Sure. Yeah. I mean, looking back, there were days when I would go out and I would just be thinking that, okay, if I'm going out with my friends or if I'm going to a nice restaurant or a fancy place, I would have to worry that, okay, I need to do my makeup. I need to put on my foundation, concealer, highlighter, and then go out. I would always be conscious of my breakouts because they would be visible, especially my acne scar[s]. I wanted something that would naturally be hiding without having to need to conceal using a concealer. Now, I just put my lipstick on and that's it. I don't do anything [makeup] and I'm good. I have that confidence thanks to Curology. I would definitely say that has been a game changer for me. What does a good skin day feel like? It happened today. This morning I was feeling really happy, elated and confident. I'm like, yes, I'm going to nail the day. This is my day. I'm going to do X, Y, Z. I did do X, Y, but Z is still there, but I'm going to get that done too after our call. But I definitely feel like that, especially now that my skin has improved so much and it’s been consistently improving. I would definitely say my confidence is there now. What advice would you have for yourself five years ago? Stop spending money elsewhere and just start putting it in this [Curology]. When I started using Curology, I was 21 or 22, and it was right around that time when I was also having, I would say, the peak of my active breakouts. So I would say right before that, when I was in my late teens around 18 or 19, or even super early twenties, if I started using Curology then, I think it would've made a significant difference just so that the money, those wasted dollars would've been saved. But I'm better late than ever. That's what I say right now. I'm just glad I started, so I'll just stick to it. What’s the one thing you’re happiest about with your skin journey? The fact that my acne scars are so much more gone than from when I first began. My skin has become much more clear and much smoother. I don't see any acne scars and I see my hyperpigmentation marks from the past fading away too, eventually within time. The fact that I take filter-free selfies now and I don't need to wear makeup.
